Orbital 2100 is a science fiction setting for Cepheus Universal and other Classic 2D6 SF games.

Experience the danger of spaceflight across our own solar system: radiation, solar flares, zero-G muscle wastage, explosive decompression – there are plenty of ways to die out here.

Colonisation and settlement is driven by an intense rivalry. The Earth is locked in a Cold War with the people of Luna. Both face off, 400,000 km apart, threatening mutual annihilation whilst they compete to colonise the moons of Jupiter and Saturn. Older colonies like Mars and Mercury are independent and caught up in this struggle for solar system supremacy.

Various campaign types are presented: from space crews, to star cops, asteroid miners to secret agents. Whatever you decide to do, you cannot escape the Cold War, the espionage and the secret agendas of the major powers.
This edition of Orbital 2100 features:

  • Data sheets for quick player orientation
  • Troubleshooting - giving players choice and agency in problem solving
  • Advice on how to GM a technical roleplaying game
  • Factions; 35 corporations, crime gangs, NGOs and agencies
  • Stats and motivations of the major political figures
  • Character creation anchored into the Cold War setting
  • Six campaign types, from spies to special ops, astronauts to belt miners.
  • Rules for operating deep space vehicles
  • Hardware and how it works; from vacc suits to rovers, lunar landers to mass drivers, airlocks, oxygen mining units and plenty more
  • Habitats, space stations, outposts and O’Neill colonies
  • UWP stats for all significant bodies in the solar system
  • In-depth write-ups for all the planets and main moons, with handy data cards
  • Hidden agendas, espionage and working for a secret Cold War faction
  • NPCs and plot ideas

An introductory Scenario for ORBITAL 2100 and other 2D6 SF RPGs
You are all recent graduates of the Frontier Foundation’s spaceflight programme, a newly qualified crew looking for your first employer. And you are currently at the Carl Sagan spin station, up in in Earth orbit.
This is a short introductory scenario that allows the Game Master and players to become familiar with both the setting and the rules of Orbital 2100 and Cepheus Universal. It is an ‘open adventure’, meaning that a situation is presented and the player characters have free reign to react to it and explore their options. There is no on-going narrative or cast of involved NPCs, each with their own agenda and goals. This approach is intended to minimise the Game Master’s workload, and hand the reins over to the players instead. Complete with pregen characters, a ship deckplan and player handout.

REVIEWS

Gerald M: This is amazing work. The detail, concepts and technology absolutely bring a real hard science campaign to reality!!!!

kafka/RPG.NET: This is the game that Hard SF players of Traveller have been waiting for... This is a labour of love and a hallmark in gaming, for all too often, Hard SF RPGs makes a compromise that causes it to veer toward a softer side. Not so here, this diamond hard SF which might cause some people to feel squeamish that lasers are used for cutting asteroids to find ore samples not handheld toys... READ REST OF REVIEW

Gerry Miller Jr:  I just wanted to say I liked [kafka’s] review of the Orbital ATU campaign and  agree 100%. It really roots my mind back to real science and helps inspire the reality of how big space really is. We started a group campaign in a modified version of this setting starting at Mercury working are way to the outer solar system on a quest to uncover hidden Cydonian technology and out run corporate spies who want our discoveries. Amazing.

Mysterious B: Unquestionably, somebody in need of wanting to introduce more pragmatism and grit into their Traveller game would be wise to pick this book up. READ REST OF REVIEW

Gary W: If you like Traveller, you will get everything you want from this book. READ REST OF REVIEW
